Inspiration for a crochet project can stem from anything from a piece of famous artwork to a beloved pet to just a creative impulse. Below I have given some examples of what has inspired a few of my projects and some suggestions for places to find inspiration of your own.
I was inspired by a painting I saw at the Museum of Modern Art by the painter Piet Mondrian. I decided to make my own pattern and create an afghan for myself (yes I actually kept this one). It is easy to take a color scheme from a painting and use it in your crochet work as well. Take Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night, that could be beautifully translated into a crochet piece!
With the birth of innovative and constantly tinier electronics, I was inspired to make a pouch for my ipod. This could be done for cell phones, cameras, mp3 players, etc. There are many patterns out there for such projects, but I find it is more fun to make my own as I go.
